Summer Is Here, and So Is Cybersixgill’s Cybersecurity Reading List!

Summer is finally here, and the Fourth of July is just around the corner! We may not have the major concerts and sporting events that we’re used to this season, but that’s no reason not to enjoy one of summer’s great pleasures: chilling out with a captivatingly good book.

And, if you’re like us, there’s no reason that book can’t focus on today’s fascinating cyber world. Of course, with cybersecurity and cyberattacks playing such a major role in today’s current events, you can enjoy cyber-themed reading and riveting storytelling at the same time.

With that in mind, we’ve put together a list of seven great summer reads brilliantly shedding light on the ever-changing and ever-exciting world of cyber activity. Check out these awesome books:

Sandstorm: A New Era Cyberwar and the Hunt for the Kremlin's Most Dangerous Hackers, by Andy Greenberg - A chilling, globe-spanning detective story, tracking an elite group of Russian hackers and the future of global warfare. This is our office's top pick!

Countdown to Zero Day: Stuxnet and the Launch of the World's First Digital Weapon, by Kim Zetter -  The story behind the virus that sabotaged Iran’s nuclear efforts and shows how its existence has ushered in a new age of warfare.

American Kingpin: The Epic Hunt for the Criminal Mastermind Behind the Silk Road, by Nick Bilton - The unbelievable true story of the man who built a billion-dollar online drug empire from his bedroom—and almost got away with it.

Ghost in the Wires: My Adventures as the World's Most Wanted Hacker, by Kevin D. Mitnick, William L. Simon, Steve Wozniak -  The first-person account of how Mitnick was able to penetrate the digital secrets of Sun Microsystems, Digital Equipment Corporation, Nokia, Motorola, Pacific Bell, and other mammoth enterprises.

We Are Anonymous: Inside the Hacker World of LulzSec, Anonymous, and the Global Cyber Insurgency, by Parmy Olson - A thrilling, exclusive expose of the hacker collectives Anonymous and LulzSec.

Spam Nation: The Inside Story of Organized Cybercrime — from Global Epidemic to Your Front Door, by Brian Krebs - A former Washington Post reporter, Krebs unmasks the criminal masterminds driving some of the biggest spam and hacker operations targeting Americans and their bank accounts.
